Samsung U600
Mp3 player doesn’t play the last 3 seconds of a mp3 file (Solved in firmware GG3)
The alarm doesn’t work in silent mode (Solved in firmware GG3)
While typing a message when mp3 player is on, the Add word function doesn’t work properly.
When receiving a file via bluetooth, there is no option to store it to the memory card so the size is limited to the phone memory
When there are movies in the my video’s section of the phone memory and you try to play a movie full screen from your memory card, the phone just switches to camera mode. Very strange!

When you’re in the main screen of the mp3 player, just push the left touch key a couple of times. This will bring you in the main menu and minimize the mp3 player.

Oh, just to be complete, this only works with the main mp3 player (right upper corner in the main menu) Not with the normal media player you get when you select an mp3 file directly!

ooo wow I got it now thanks alot!!Oh man u’re really helpful.Well at least more helpful than those working in Samsung.I sent them a couple of email of questions regarding my newly bought Samsung U600 but they havent replied me.So maybe when u’re free you could give me a little help?I’m really lost here.Thanks.Take your time.
1)Is it true that if I replace my original SGH-U600 690 mAH battery to a SGH-X820 1000 mAH battery,my phone will work properly and the battery will last longer?
2)The wallpaper shown on my phone in idle mode is the picture of the Kuala Lumpur Twin Tower.How is it if I do not want to show this but show maybe the Eifel Tower or the Big Apple or any scneary that has got to do with other countries.I have tried changing the Time Zone to Australia and so on but the wallpaper still remains to the Kuala Lumpur Twin Tower wallpaper.
3)How do I use Yahoo Search?First of all,where can I even find this Yahoo Search function?
4)In MY FILES,when i go into VIDEOS or MUSIC,when i click OPTIONS i notice there is something called KEY MANAGEMENT(the number 12 option for you to select once you click options)but it is always unable to be accessed.Even the same for in SETTINGS.Everytime i click on it they will say that it is empty.This goes the same for the option ACTIVATE(the number 4 option)It also cant be accesed.By the way,what is this KEY MANAGEMENT and this ACTIVATE?What are they for?
5)Does samsung have ringer profile?Meaning,i would sometimes be outdoor and i will want my phone to ring loud and vibrate.Sometimes I am in a theathre and I do not want my phone to be completely silent but I do not want it to ring either so if by just having the vibration would do good.Then sometimes when I am in a meeting and cant answer calls at all,I would want to switch the profile to be completely silent.How do i do these?From what I see here,I can only choose between Normal mode(which is loud and vibrate) or Silent…OR it is Normal mode or Vibrate.Can’t I have all 3??
6)When my picture files are stored in my memory card,I cant browse thru pictures while I am in Full screen mode(like left and right).But,when the pictures are stored in the phone,I can do so.There will be an arrow up there where I can straight away click right to view to the next picture but when it is in memory card,I have to quit full screen mode,go to the other picture and click on it again etc etc.Why is this happening?
7)When I type my messages,there will be a very irritating sound.To disable the sound I have to lower the volume key till it is zero.But then everytime I do so,when I use the camera mode,there will be no sound.then i have to quit the camera mode and on the volume again then go back in camera mode again and take pictures.Then after taking pictures I have to lower the volume back to zero again.Is there another way?
8)In camera settings,what does EXPOSURE MATERING and MACRO means?
9)Why are most of the games in JAVA WORLD in demo version??
10)Why doesn’t the smart search function search files in the memory card as well?
11)When in idle mode,I can see on my top left corner near the signal bar there is an alphabet E sometimes G.Why does it always change?
12)Is it possible for me to watch TV programs or anything with this phone through either GPRS or EDGE or whatever?
13)How does the uTrack function works?Where can I even access this function?
14)How do I sort my music files by NAME.Now it only sorts by DATE as in the latest file I receive will be placed at the top list but I want it to be sorted by NAME.
15)Do you have the UNLOCKING CODE for the game TETRIS in JAVA WORLD?It is only in DEMO VERSION.Or do you have any other codes for the other demo games there.

It’s well know that the battery life of the Samsung U600 isn’t great. Here is a little trick that helps to improve the battery life.
Use it only when you don’t use gprs!
When you slide your phone up, enter this code: *#4777*8665#
This will appear on the screen like this: *#4777*—–
Then, a secret menu will show up. Go to the option GPRS Detach and click it. Next you will have to wait some time (eg 5 seconds)
and get the message: GPRS Detach cofirm
That’s all! Your stand-by time has increased with 20% now!
Is this true?Will it work?Will this really help save my battery life?And is it safe to do so?After disabling this does it mean I cant access GPRS anymore??

1)Yes the 1000mAh works in your U600 but I would wait a while before purchrasing it because there are soms rumous that it drains almost equally fast. I’ll keep you updated!
2)It depends on the country you’re in, there is no way to change it manually
5)Samsung doesn’t support rigger profiles. (Tip by long pushing the #button you’ll go to silent mode)
6)Firmware doesn’t support this at this moment
8)Macro is for shooting nearby objects
9)It’ll probably cost samsung a lot of money to purchrase the full versions from the devellopers.
26) This really works. There is no problem to enable gprs again. You can enable it again by using the same code and select gprs attach or you can just go to the browser.
This are the questions I can answer to directly. I’ll look up the other things when I’ve got more time.

Hi…do you have any idea whether the Motorola RAZR V3i’s battery lasts longer or the Samsung U600?It says here that both these Motorola and Samsung has the same talk time which is up to 3 hours and 30 minutes.On the other hand,the Samsung has 250 hours of standby time while the Motorola has only 200 hours.However,the battery type for the Motorola is a Standard battery,Li-Ion 710 mAh while the Samsung is a Standard battery, Li-Ion 690 mAh.So which one lasts longer?My previous phone before this samsung was the motorola so i thought i wanted to compare as I am getting the feeling this current Samsung of mine drains more battery power than my previous Motorola!!!

i was thinking maybe there is some java software out there that can be used for browsing through the photos on the memory card (?). If anyone knows if theres anything like that out there then that’d be really helpful.

Hmm I seriously doubt that. I think the best thing you can do is hope that a new firmware version will allow browsing photos on the memory card!

Hi Christopher & Travis, I own a Samsung SGH-U600 & notice a couple of bugs with the firmware. Every time I slide down the phone & press the “Contacts”/right soft key, “Call log” menu will appear instead of the usual “Contact list”. It is as if I have pressed the left soft key. I have to press the right soft key again every time to get to “Contact list” after sliding it down.
On the other hand, if I press the left soft key after sliding down the phone, the usual “Menu” won’t appear but a sound will be heard indicating I have pressed the key. The left & right soft keys do not function properly when I set the slide-up setting to “None” & slide-down setting to “Continue operation” in the “Phone settings”>”Slide settings”. I don’t use the default settings for “Slide settings”. Do you guys have the same problem? Any way to fix it? My current firmware version is U600DXGD5. Thanks.

Hey, ff een vraagje, ik heb nu ook al een tijdje de U600, ben er over ‘t algemeen heel tevreden mee
Maar als ik een smsje stuur en ik gebruik T9 doet hij ‘t op het begin normaal. Maar nadat ik +/- 15 woorden heb getypt doet T9 raar en kan ik niet een ander woord uit het lijstje kiezen?
Ik zag bij Known Firmware Bugs staan, dat dat gewoon is als je MP3 Speler aan is, maar dat is bij mij niet het geval. Weet jij hier iets tegen?

Lite so many others already said, this is a very great and helpful site !!
One thing I noticed and also read about in another forum is that for incoming calls you can choose to have both the signal and the vibration but for incoming SMS you must choose one of them but can’t have both at the same time while some users claim they can…maybe because they have a different firmware version? I have a version called U600CPGD5

In the GG3 firmware, 2 bugs are normally solved: the 3 second MP3 player bug, and the alarm will work in silent mode.

Hmm, the alarm still doesn’t work in silent mode on my phone, howerver I flashed up U600XXGG3. Does someone know why? Or maybe I just don’t know how it’s been switched on? Please help!

Hi there,
I just bought U600 - firmware is u600xxgd2
I have following problems
1. My Jaba BT150 Bluetooth headset does pair and I even hear it beep when it connects or disconnects but for the rest the u600 does not seem to send sound to it. Everything stays on the phone.
2. I have a GB SDmicro card in there with music but it will play only 1 file at a time and not the whole directory. It als indeed seems to cut short each song. It seems there two music players? One for when you play from phone memory and another when you play from memory card? Any info.
Any help will much appreciated.

Hey!
Does anyone else have the problem where on an incoming call the ringtone is low for about 3 seconds and then suddenly gets louder?
I flashed the phone to GG3 but it still is the same
I messed with all the settings but it still happens even on the default ringtones.
If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know!

I had a question for you. My firmware is U600DXGH1 and I just purchases this phone 3 weeks ago, got it about 1 week ago. When I did the code translation, it comes out to July 07. Is this the latest? I checked http://homepages.pathfinder.gr/xux99/samsung/ and it’s not even up there.
My important question to you is this: I used to own a Samsung D500 and everytime you slid the phoen up, it made a cool noise. When you slide it back down, it made a different cool noise (slider tone). Can I get this feature on the U600?
Do you know if a particular firmware will fix this? Finally, when I am about to Text someone, in the “To” window (right above where you write your message), the default is always to type in 123 mode. Instead, how can I change this to T9 texting? I don’t know people’s phone number’s..only their names! Any help?

Your firmware is from August 2007 so it’s pretty recent and probably up to date.
That firmware version does is on the site: (maybe you forgot to choose the U600 instead of the U700 in the dropdown menu at te left side of the site: http://homepages.pathfinder.gr/xux99/samsung/
I don’t think this feature is available on the phone, maybe in future firmware releases…
In the “To” window i suggest you just click your center key (the one with the “i” on it) and there you can select telephone book in which you van browse by name

Anyone else having problems with the bluetooth initially connecting and pairing ok but then failing to automatically connect on next use? Specifically I am trying to connect to TomTom Go 700 SatNav. Works fine with my D500 but not my new U600.

Hi all, my U600 has firmware version U600MSGC4 and I have problem with my phone. I can’t press the CALL button after I have chosen the person I want to call from the address book. Is it a known bug?? when i tried to download an azan software to my phone by pressing the left softkey button,it says “Java Error” Content size too large…

Hi guys, this looks like a really helpful website. I have a SGH-U600 which works absolutely fine after a couple of years. Since i’ve had it, i haven’t upgraded any software or firmware. There is one problem - when writing text messages, after one sentence, the phone will crash and return to the O2 front page and re-boot!! Has anyone had this problem, and can suggest a fix!!
